Extensive beaches, verdant forests and somewhere in the middle the gorgeous Evripo's daughter Halkida which joins the island and the mainland part of Euboea with two bridges. Halkida is constituted by a mixture of traditional and modern buildings and premises. You shouldn't miss the opportunity to visit the castle of Karababas, the Archaeological and the Folklore museum. The Red House in the north part of the city and the House with statues are worth visiting.
Avlida is not far from Halkida and you can easily visit it. It is famous for figenia's sacrifice during the Trojan War. In the north part of Euboean coast there are the beautiful beaches of St. Minas, Alikes, Loukisia where can go swimming and fishing.
As you go southern of Halkida you can meet Lilantion field and N. Lampsakos where you taste fresh seafood in the nice tavernas of the picturesque area.
23 km far from Halkida the historical town of Eretria is located, which will absolutely organised beaches and the important historical museums, the ancient theatre, the temple dedicated to Laureate Apolo etc.
A picturesque costal town, which will fascinate you at first sight, is Amarinthos, 30 km far from the capital of the forovince.
On the south east of Halkida we meet Aliveri a modern town that the important tourist centre called Karavos. In Katakalou region there is a domed Mekenean tomb.
Kimi is amphitheatrically built on a verdant area. It offers a magnificent view and it has fairly characterised "as the balcony of Aegean Sea". It is worth to visiting the Folklore museum. The beaches Metohi and Platanas are gorgeous with extremely clear water.
You should visit the picturesque towns Konistres and Avlonari which is build on a hill with the Medieval tower at the top.
Beautiful beaches where you can enjoy swimming are Korasidas, Kalamos, Mourteris, Oxilithos, St. Mercourios and Bourina. For the nature-lovers a visit to the wild sanctuary in the lake of Distos is suggested.
With Halkida as starting point and direction north there are the beautiful towns. N. Artaki and Psahna. It is worth visiting Politika and the amazing beach in Dafni with the impressive mountain Kandili standing above.
On the northwest part of Halkida, there is a verdant traditional area called Steni. You can go touring and mountaineering in the most beautiful mountain called Dirfy. The gorge of Agali is of exceptional beauty near the village St. Athanasios. Passing by the picturesque village Stropones there is one of the most famous Aegean beach of Hiliadous.
